Mistral adds Deep Research, Audio-In, and Projects to Le Chat — ~1,000 words/sec flash response mode

Mistral released a significant feature update to Le Chat that includes Deep Research (preview), Audio-In voice input, Projects for organizing work, and Flash Answers — a speed-optimized response mode running at approximately 1,000 words per second on Mistral's highest-performance models. Flash Answers is available in preview to all users. The update also adds a Code Interpreter for sandboxed code execution and data visualization, and an image generation integration powered by Black Forest Labs Flux Ultra.

Le Chat launched in early 2024 as a thin wrapper on Mistral's models. It has rapidly become a full-featured AI assistant competing directly with ChatGPT and Claude.ai in the consumer and prosumer tier — and doing so at a price point that undercuts both. The free tier includes frontier models, image generation, document uploads, and now Deep Research — features that are paywalled on competing platforms.
